According to a tradition of the community of Jews discovered in Kaifeng, in the mid-18th century, their ancestors arrived in China during the Han dynasty, 206 BCE-220 CE. Jewish presence in China would be redefined by Sephardic merchants and Jews fleeing the Russian revolution and the Holocaust.
